BRYAN, Texas — A Bryan woman that turned herself in after a shooting on Monday, Aug. 5 has now had an additional charge added to her list of charges and her bond increased.

According to an arrest report, Dequajna Johnson shot Keianna Hines over a dispute regarding a man that both women had previous relations with, and previously had law enforcement called due to the two fighting over a personal matter tied to the man.

In the incident on Monday, witness testimonies and Housing Authority pole camera footage recounts Johnson shooting Hines after Hines challenged her to a fight. Johnson was in a car that had returned to collect money from the man after they had dropped off laundry for him. After Johnson shot Hines, the car she was in sped away, and was kicked out of the car shortly after.

In an interview with Bryan Police Detectives, Johnson admitted to everything that took place that evening, and stated she thought the gun had its safety on as she pointed it at Hines during the argument before the shooting took place. She also stated she wasn't aware that the gun was loaded.

According to Brazos County Jail Records, Johnson's bonds now total $550,000 for two charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and one Murder charge. The new murder charge carried at $250,000 bond, while the added Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon charge carried a $100,000 bond.

A GoFundMe has been created for Hines, and more information about it can be found here. As of Thursday, Aug. 8, over a quarter of the donations for the $5,000 goal have been met.
