Brazos Valley recycling company encourages locals to recycle holiday waste

From old wrapping paper to even Christmas lights, there's a lot of holiday waste that is waiting for a new life.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — BVR Waste and Recycling collects recyclables from Bryan-College Station, and along with student move in and move out, the few days after Christmas are some of their busiest.

The company says they see the most post-holiday activity over a span of about two weeks.

For those that have holiday waste to recycle, BVR takes cardboard boxes, wrapping paper, cardboard rollers, craft paper, artificial and real trees.

Even Christmas lights are fair game to recycle.

BVR operations manager, Tony Long said, “we just ask that nothing be foil backed. Some of the wrapping paper has backing that’s made of foil and that becomes an issue because then you’ve got to separate.”

Even if your residential area doesn’t have a recycling program onsite, BVR Waste and Recycling has ways to work with you.

"Adrianc Lab road that’s a location that’s on Texas A&M. There’s the recycle center at the Walmart in College Station. Or you can actually bring it to the location here, and we’ll recycle it for you here,” Long said.

So basically, BVR would like those who celebrated the holiday to make like an old Christmas tree and GO GREEN.

Not only does it help the environment, but the company says it makes manufacturing more efficient and cost effective.

“Cardboard needs to be broke down and made to be into more cardboard. Glass tends to be done the same way,” said Long.

BVR Waste and Recycling is proud to host Lone Star Chapter of the Alliance of Hazardous Materials Professionals. We enjoyed having your team visit our recycling facility!
