BRYAN, Texas — A cold front will work its way south overnight Thursday into Friday morning. The cold front should begin moving through the Brazos Valley just before sunrise on Friday. The cold front is expected to have a dry passage. This cold front passage will switch the winds around from the south to the north.
Winds will be quite strong Friday late-morning into the early-afternoon hours. Wind speeds will range from 10 to 20 mph with gusts of 25 mph possible. This will blow around light lawn furniture & empty trashcans so make sure you have secured all lightweight outdoor items. Temperatures behind the cold front won't be too terribly cool. Highs will climb into the mid to upper-60s.
The upcoming weekend will feature nice weather with temperatures in the 60s & 70s on Saturday, and a few areas hitting the upper-70s by Sunday. A few clouds will roll through the area but no rain is expected over the weekend.
A significant pattern change will take shape over the weekend across the Northern Hemisphere. A ridge will build into Alaska & northwestern Canada, which will force cold, Arctic air south early next week. This cold airmass will move into the Brazos Valley by Tuesday morning. Temperatures will struggle in the 40 with a stiff northerly breeze, making it feel much colder. Cloud-cover & rain showers looking likely throughout Tuesday as a piece of upper-level energy "hangs out" over northern Mexico. Depending on the evolution of this upper-level energy will determine if clouds & rain stick around through Tuesday night/early Wednesday or whether the skies begin to clear by Tuesday afternoon. This will be ironed out over the next couple of days. Regardless, some of the coldest temperatures of the season are expected.
