TEMPLE, Texas — Today/Tonight: Today marked the peak of the arctic blast. We started off this morning in the teens, with wind chills near 0°. This afternoon, several areas flirted with the freezing mark, but we all stayed under 32°. Tonight, expect one more night in the teens, but with winds calming down, it will actually feel like the teens (slightly better than this morning).

Tomorrow: With winds returning to the south, we can expect temperatures to climb back into the mid-40's by tomorrow afternoon. With winds gusting up to 20-25 mph, it will still be a chilly day, so be prepared for that. Skies should stay clear for most of the day, before clouding up late. Tomorrow night, we'll fall into the 30's making it the warmest morning of the week so far.

Extended: We jump back into the 60's by Thursday, but it won't last. Another arctic cold front sweeps through Thursday night bringing overnight lows back into the 20's and daytime highs back into the 40's for the weekend. We start warming back up next week, but this time, that warm-up comes with a little extra in the form of rain. Potentially heavy rains move in during the early to middle parts of next week. The totals through the week could be as high as 3" in some areas. Best timing for rain will be late Sunday into Monday, with diminishing chances through the middle of the week.
