MADISON COUNTY, Texas — Severe weather reportedly caused heavy damage to a road in Madison County, Texas during this weekend's storms.
A Facebook post from the account Madison County, Texas Weather showed a large section of what they said was Farm to Market Road 2989 having been completely swept away. The post claims heavy rainfall caused the road to wash out and cave in.
The account did not know who had shared the original picture.
6 News Reporter Andrea Uribe took more pictures of the scene, showing the road covered in standing water and fallen limbs.
"This is the most that anybody in our meeting we just had had ever seen before as far as pastures," said Madisonville Fire Chief Thom Jones about the flooding. "Highway 90 has been compromised and they’re trying to fill it in and backfill, so that road has been shut down and we’ve never had to shut that road down before."

Authorities told 6 News no injuries have been reported at this time and there have been no losses of homes. Damage is reportedly mostly due to falling trees and flooding on Highway 90.
"We were very fortunate that it didn’t touch down as much as it looked like it was touching down, so we were very very fortunate," said Madisonville Emergency Management Coordinator Shelly Butts, referring to reports of a tornado. "We have no loss of life to report. Most of the damage seems to be trees and flood damage to road bases and that sort of thing.”
