BRYAN, Texas — A surface high pressure nearby will allow for calm winds, clear skies & low dewpoints Wednesday night. This will ensure temperatures fall into the mid-30s by Thursday morning so a light jacket will be needed. Low-lying areas and northern parts of the Brazos Valley should flirt with freezing.
Temperatures begin a warming trend Thursday afternoon. Afternoon highs will climb into the low-60s under mostly sunny skies. The average high is in the low-to-mid-60s so temperatures will be near average.
A small dip in the jet stream, across the Plains on Friday, will send a weak cold front through the Brazos Valley late in the day. This front will not be Arctic in nature so do not expect big impacts. The winds will shift around to the north on Saturday, which will be the most noticeable impact. The front will also ensure temperatures do not skyrocket over the weekend.
The weekend will feature nice weather for mid-December. Temperatures Saturday will be in the upper-60s/70 but warmer and more humid air moves in Sunday as the surface high, behind the cold front, scoots off to the east. This will allow enough moisture to return to support a few showers late Sunday night.
The shower & storm chances increase on Monday as a low and cold front move across Texas. This will drop high temperatures into the 50s for the Brazos Valley.
