WASHINGTON COUNTY, Texas — The Texas Department of Transportation Bryan District has announced two construction projects in Washington County, mostly centered around Brenham.

Beginning on Monday, a contractor for TxDOT will begin constructing an RCUT intersection at State Highway 36 between Anderson Lane and Pleasant Hill School Road. Additionally, upgrades and additions of sidewalks will take place that same day along Business 36 from FM 577 to Vulcan Street.

Both projects will take place in Brenham.

The RCUT intersection construction is forecasted to run through the fall. A projected timeline of when the sidewalk installation and upgrades would be completed was not provided.

Outside of Brenham, TxDOT has also revealed plans to install RCUT intersections at the US 290 and FM 1155 Intersection in Chappell Hill. That project will start in fall and is expected to run through summer 2025.

While the construction is ongoing, TxDOT urges drivers to expect delays and be cautious while navigating the roads, especially where there is work being done.
