LIST | Officials report more road closures in Central Texas due to flooding

The rains that have drenched Central Texas continue to cause problems for drivers on the road, and officials are urging those on the road to be aware.

CENTRAL, Texas — As parts of Central Texas continue to reel from the torrential rains over the past couple of weeks, the floodwater that has remained is continuing to cause trouble for drivers on the roads.

The Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and local authorities have advised that the following roads are currently closed due to high water:

  • FM 2414 from US 84 to FM 221 in Hamilton County
  • FM 1829 near Mound in Coryell County
  • FM 1783 near CR 142
  • FM 2412 and FM 930 at Plum Creek in Levita
  • FM 182 in Turnersville south of FM 217
  • FM 183 south of Purmela
  • FM 56 north of SH 6 in Valley Mills
  • FM 1991 and FM 219 near Clifton
  • SH 6 near Valley Mills 
    • Northbound traffic being diverted to SH 317
    • Southbound traffic to FM 2602
  • Highway 6 at Mills Creek between Clifton and Valley Mills 
    • According to the Bosque County Sheriff's Office, the road damage is more severe than anticipated, so it will remain closed through at least May 12. 
    • Until the road is reopened, a detour will be available through Mosheim via FM 854 to FM 217, which will then reconnect to Highway 6. 
    • Clifton Police said TxDOT is working to shorten the detour and is working on two major spots on SH-6, but both will take time.
  • Kimble Bend Bridge on Highway 174 going from Bosque into Hill County
  • CR 320 and FM 1829 around Mound
    • Access is possible off of FM 107, but authorities advise drivers to not cross any barricades
  • CR 1060 off of FM 1991
  • CR 4150 is reportedly repaired and passable, according to the Bosque County Sheriff's Office. 
    • Drivers are warned that the base material will continue to settle and compact over the next few days and the road may be rough to drive on. 
    • Drivers are asked to drive slowly across the section.
  • A bridge on County Road 132 in northwest Milam County
  • Cole Branch Road in Robertson County
  • Headsville Road in Robertson County
  • Closs Road in Robertson County
  • South Tidwell Prairie Road in Robertson County
  • Andreski Road in Robertson County
  • FM 116 at Cow House Creek Bridge
  • CR 142
  • FM 182- open to local traffic only
  • CR 338 to Mother Neff Park
  • CR 315
  • FM 930- open to local traffic only
  • Park Rd 14 at Mother Neff State Park
  • FM 2412/Plum Creek- open to local traffic only
  • CR 106
  • CR 315 from bridge to FM 107
  • CR 344
  • CR 266
  • CR 274 is reportedly open, but rough to drive on
  • FM 183- open to local traffic only
  • CR 334
  • FM 1783- open to local traffic only
  • FM 932/ Plum Creek- open to local traffic only
  • CR 320- open to local traffic only
  • CR 106 has been closed due to water over the roadway
  • CR 197 will need to be bladed over, said the Coryell County Sheriff's Office
  • CR 185 at Mustang Creek-Coryell side and CR 428 at Mustang Creek-Hamilton County side
  • CR 142 at the low water crossing
  • CR 318 at the low water crossing
  • Settlement Branch off Duncan is now reportedly open
  • Winter Road at the low water crossing is closed on both sides, FM 929 and CR 245
  • CR 355 at the low water crossing
  • CR 197 north and south
  • FM 1829 reportedly has "some" flooding on the Highway 36 end
  • CR 127 at the low water crossing

According to the Coryell County Sheriff's Office, the Adamsville Baptist Church is coordinating with Red Cross to help residents that needed to be evacuated from flooded areas.

Authorities advise drivers to follow signs and to not drive around barricades.
