Bryan ISD Robotics Teacher Makes History at Award Ceremony

The middle school teacher is the first in the district to be awarded Secondary Teacher of the Year

ROUND ROCK, Texas — Bryan Independent School District and Stephen F. Austin Middle School teacher, Naveen Cunha was announced by the Texas Association of School Administrators Awards Ceremony as the Secondary Teacher of the Year. 

Competing against every secondary teacher in the state, Cunha makes history as the first Bryan ISD teacher to win this award.

Cunha has been an educator for more than 30 years and is currently the Robotics teacher and coordinator of the district’s Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Academy at SFA Middle School School.

Through a Friday afternoon news release, Superintendent Ginger Carrabine said, “On behalf of the Bryan ISD Board of Trustees and the entire Bryan ISD community, we are thankful for Mr. Cunha, We appreciate all that he’s done to add value to the lives of our children, and we are proud.”

Cunha will be recognized at the Bryan ISD School Board Meeting at 6 p.m. Monday.
