Jan. 28, 1996: The last time Dallas hoisted the Super Bowl Trophy. Here's what the world looked like.

DALLAS — Jan. 28, 1996. 

The Dallas Cowboys beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XXX in Tempe, Arizona, 27-17. Dallas hoisted its third Lombardi Trophy in four years. All was looking up. 

Dallas has not been to even the NFC Championship game ever since.

It's been 10,208 days (27 years, 11 months and 13 days) as of this writing. The Cowboys remained one of the better teams in the regular season for a large majority of the past three decades, but never could get over the hump. 

Divisional round losses to the Vikings in 2009, the Packers in 2014 (Dez caught it) and 2016, Rams in 2018 and 49ers in 2022 have been the closest Dallas has ever come to returning to the Super Bowl. Entering the playoffs in the 2023 season, Dallas is the No. 2 seed with a perfect 8-0 home record in the regular season, and the NFC's best point differential (+194).

"Mr. Holland's Opus" led the weekend box office from Jan. 26-28, grossing $8.29 million, according to Box Office Mojo.

"Toy Story" led the box office on the single day of Jan. 28, 1996, only with $558,716. It was released just over two months prior, on Nov. 22, 1995.
