HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Former Virginia Tech offensive coordinator Brad Cornelsen has been announced as the new offensive coordinator for the Sam Houston State Bearkats.
The former Virginia Tech offensive coordinator joins the Bearkats after six years with the Hokies. In 2022, Virginia Tech had a rocky season, only finding wins against Boston College, Wofford, and Liberty.
The Hokies did not play their final game of the season against Virginia, as the game was cancelled after three Virginia Cavalier football players were killed on Nov. 13. Officially, Virginia Tech finished the 2022 season with a 3-8 record, only picking up one in-conference win.
For the Bearkats, they had a moderately successful 2022 run, finishing the season with a 5-4 record, which would be good enough to finish second in the WAC behind Abilene Christian.
Sam Houston State is set to open their 2023 football season on the road in Utah against BYU on Sept. 2.
