COLLEGE STATION, Texas — With changes to the Texas A&M football coaching staff imminent following the confirmation that Mike Elko was going to lead the Aggies beginning in 2024, previous staff members will be headed to other teams.
According to ESPN's Chris Low, a deal is expected to be finalized Tuesday night to bring offensive coordinator Bobby Petrino back to Fayetteville to join the Razorbacks in the same position.
Additionally, Neke Craig, the wife of wide receivers coach Dameyune Craig, announced that he would not be returning to A&M in 2024.
"God's blessings have been excessive and overly abundant when it comes to our family," she said in her post on Instagram. "When we moved to College Station I prayed for 3 1/2 years. I wanted to get (my son) Drake through high school without moving again. He gave us 6 years! I am so incredibly grateful for our time here.
This is an amazing place. The community, our neighborhood, and the university are all filled with wonderful people. I wish nothing but the best for Texas A&M University. I just hope the young men Dameyune coached know that they are loved and appreciated. They will always be (a part) of our family. I'm excited to see what God has in store for us. I know it's going to be amazing."
Craig joined A&M as a position coach that had previously been a part of former head coach Jimbo Fisher's staff, and helped recruit some major names from the historic 2022 recruiting class at wide receiver, including Chris Marshall, Demond Demas, and Evan Stewart.
Recently, it was reported by The Eagle that offensive line coach Steve Addazio has been removed from the team as well. According to the report, Texas A&M Athletics Director Ross Bjork confirmed that the aforementioned three coaches have been already let go, and will not be a part of A&M's bowl practices or bowl game.
It was also reported that the team has parted ways with offensive analyst Louie Addazio, Steve's son. No indicators of who will take over on offense for the Aggies' upcoming bowl appearance have been given.
With these departures in mind, other news about staff coming into the program has also surfaced. David Feeley, Duke's current Director of Football Sports Performance, will be following Mike Elko to Aggieland. Feeley joined the Blue Devils in January 2022 from Miami, and is heralded as a major force behind how Duke was able to compete physically in the ACC over the past couple of seasons.
