COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M athletic director Ross Bjork has been named a target for Ohio State's next athletic director, according to ESPN's Pete Thamel.
Bjork has been the Aggie athletics director since 2019, when he was hired from Ole Miss to replace Scott Woodard, who at the time had taken the same position at LSU.
Should he take the job, Bjork would be replacing outgoing athletic director Gene Smith, who announced he would be retiring following the 2023-2024 athletic year. Smith has been the Ohio State athletic director since 2005.
During his time as the A&M athletics director, he negotiated the hires of head baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle, head women's basketball coach Joni Taylor, head softball coach Trisha Ford, and head volleyball coach Jamie Morrison, among others.
Bjork was also part of former head football coach Jimbo Fisher's 2021 contract extension, which was abruptly cut short after the organization parted ways with him in the back end of the 2023 football season, giving him a record $77 million buyout, the largest in league history.
