COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Texas A&M quarterback Max Johnson announced on Sunday that he would be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.
Johnson transferred to A&M from LSU in 2021, and has racked up almost 2,000 passing yards in his two years as an Aggie. Following Texas A&M's week nine matchup on the road against Ole Miss, he was rotated out of the starting quarterback lineup due to an undisclosed injury. In 2022, he also suffered a season-ending injury after just four games, starting in three of them over Haynes King.
According to ESPN stats, he has had an over 60% completion percentage in all of his college years so far, barring his freshman year at LSU in 2020, where he had a 58.7% completion percentage. This season, Johnson has thrown for nine touchdowns and over 1,400 yards.
Johnson isn't the first Aggie to announce he would be entering the portal, and likely won't be the last. Shortly after the departure of former head coach Jimbo Fisher, Wide Receiver Raymond Cottrell announced that he would be entering the transfer portal among a small handful of other players.
