ATHENS, Ga. — Tyrece Radford totaled 20 points and 10 rebounds and Andersson Garcia also had a double-double as Texas A&M finished strong in a 70-56 victory over Georgia on Saturday.
Radford made 7 of 17 shots with three 3-pointers for the Aggies (16-13, 7-9 Southeastern Conference). Garcia added 11 points and 10 rebounds off the bench, sinking 4 of 5 shots with a 3-pointer. Manny Obaseki pitched in with 12 points, five rebounds and four assists. Both of Radford's double-doubles this season have come in the past two games. Garcia has four.
Blue Cain led the Bulldogs (15-14, 5-11) with 11 points. He made 5 of 12 shots, including 1 of 7 from 3-point range. Jabri Abdur-Rahim had 10 points on 3-for-10 shooting from beyond the arc. He also missed his only shot from inside the arc. Silas Demary Jr. scored nine.
Demary scored in the paint and Cain followed with Georgia's sixth 3-pointer, giving the Bulldogs a 21-15 lead with 11 minutes left in the first half. Radford and Garcia hit back-to-back 3-pointers in a 9-0 run and Texas A&M moved in front 24-21.
Georgia pulled even twice, the last on Demary's jumper with 1:20 left that knotted the score at 31-all. Jace Carter answered with a 3-pointer for the Aggies, who took a two-point lead into halftime after Georgia's Noah Thomasson hit 1 of 2 free throws with one second remaining. Radford had 11 points at intermission and Garcia scored seven. The pair combined to make 7 of 12 shots, while their teammates missed 23 of 25 attempts.
Texas A&M pushed its lead to eight with a 6-0 run to begin the second half. Georgia got as close as three and Cain's jumper with 6:35 remaining left the Bulldogs trailing 60-56. Obaseki made two free throws, Solomon Washington grabbed a rebound and dunked, and Wade Taylor IV scored in the paint as the Aggies moved back in front by 10 and coasted over the final 3:08.
Georgia will host Mississippi on Tuesday. Texas A&M returns home to play Mississippi State on Wednesday.
