FRANKLIN, Texas — Franklin head coach Mike Hedrick is retiring, KAGS confirmed on Thursday.
Hedrick got his first head coaching gig at Tyler Chapel Hill in 1976. In 1980, he took the head coaching job at Leon High School. After 26 years with the Cougars, Hedrick returned to his alma mater, Franklin, in 2006. Overall, Hedrick has been a high school football coach for 43 years and racked up 307 career wins.
The Lions went 7-4 this season and lost in the Area Round of the playoffs.
