COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Texas A&M Aggies (3-5) are set to take on the Florida Gators (4-4) at Kyle Field this Saturday at 11 a.m. on ESPN.
Although this may seem like a bleak season for both teams involved, each of them still has the opportunity to become bowl eligible by earning six wins.
Let's look at some possible ways the Aggies could have success in the game.
Coming off his starting debut, freshman QB Conner Weigman completed 28 passes for 338 yards and 4 TDs against a really good Ole Miss team.
According to ESPN, the Gators are giving up an average of 253.3 passing yards per game. If Weigman can play even close to his first performance, the Aggies should be in good shape.
On the ground, the Aggies are averaging close to 123 yards per game. This could be an opportunity for them as the Gators are giving up 191 rushing yards per game. Junior RB Devon Achane can look to have a successful day if these tendencies remain true.
Overall the Aggies should match up very well against the Gators whether they choose to be run or pass heavy. However, a balanced game plan should be expected as the Aggies continue to get used to their new QB.
The Aggies will need to win three of their last four games to become bowl eligible.
