COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A&M Consolidated High School Defensive Coordinator William Robertson announced today that he has completed chemotherapy at Baylor Scott & White and is now cancer free.
In a post made today on X (formerly Twitter), Robertson said, "Ring That Bell!!! I’m the happiest person alive. Thank all of you for your support and prayers. This has been an unbelievable ride. New set of scans next week, but I’m done with the absolute living hell that chemotherapy is. People have it harder than me. God Bless them!"
Since being diagnosed with Stage 3 colon cancer in March, Robertson continued to coach as the football fought their way through the season.
Coaching requires creativity, with him creating videos to be shown to players while he received treatment. Robertson and the players would communicate through social media and email to discuss the videos he had created.
On X, the football team shared videos of their celebration to honor Robertson's new health status. The team had bowling outing, where a video of Robertson ringing the cancer free bell was screened.
The football team shared videos of the celebration in an X post and with the caption, "True Warrior, it’s been a pleasure to fight alongside you!"
