COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational is excited to add right-handed pitcher Jacob Ashkinos to the tournament roster. Baylor joins Texas Tech and West Virginia as Big 12 baseball programs to have players announced in the CSBI so far.
After two seasons in Waco pitching for the Bears, Ashkinos had made 30 appearances and was prepared to have his best season yet in 2020. Ashkinos finished the Covid-19 shortened season having made four appearances and finishing with a 2.70 ERA over 6.2 innings while striking out seven batters. During his 2019 campaign with Baylor, Jacob made 20 appearances including six starts and worked 10 scoreless outings as he proved to be an integral part of the Baylor pitching staff.
Before arriving in Waco, the Aledo, Texas native spent his first year of college baseball at Cisco Junior College. The 2017 season saw Ashkinos pitch in 16 games and log 30 strikeouts in 26 innings while holding opponents to a .188 batting average.
When asked about signing with the CSBI, Ashkinos said “I’m really honored to be invited to play in this tournament. I love that we also get to help people while playing a game that we love.

Tristan Stivors will join the CSBI and look to compete against other top collegians from around the country.
Stivors looked to be building an All-Conference type of season in 2020 before it was cut short. The right-hander appeared in seven games out of the bullpen and recorded four saves which tied for the most in the Sun Belt Conference. Stivors posted an impressive 1.17 ERA in 7.2 innings and struck out eight batters with one walk while holding opponents to a .115 batting average. Hoping to salvage some sort of the 2020 season, Stivors had this to say about the CSBI “I’m honored to be selected to play in this tourney. I’m so happy I get to get back on the mound again this year.”
Before arriving to Texas State, the Castroville, Texas native spent two years at New Mexico Junior College where he pitched in a total of 31 games and earned a 10-2 record with 5 saves while striking out 123 batters.
“Adding Tristan to the CSBI was a no-brainer decision for our staff” said Brian Nelson, Director of Operations. “He is a proven player that comes from an elite program with a great coaching staff. We are excited to have him.”

The Collegiate Summer Baseball Invitational is excited to welcome Austin Davis to the roster. The Sophomore was well on his way to a breakout season before being shut down because of Covid-19.
In 16 games for the Mountaineers this season, Davis was off to a hot start hitting .322 while providing 10 RBI’s and six stolen bases. The speedy outfielder tallied 12 stolen bases during his freshman campaign in Morgantown.
The Orlando, Florida native was a two-time Perfect Game All-American and was a member of the highest rated recruiting class in West Virginia baseball history. When asked about playing in the CSBI, Davis said “I’m ready to get after it. This is such an exciting opportunity to be able to get back out there and play baseball.”
“Austin is an exciting type of player to watch” said Director of Operations Brian Nelson. “The West Virginia program is one of the best in the country and we are more than excited to have Austin represent the Mountaineers in the CSBI.”

Austin joins a growing list of collegiate baseball players headed to Bryan/College Station to compete in the CSBI on June 1st. Austin is the first Demon Deacon and ACC representative to be announced by the CSBI.
Teel, a left-handed pitcher, won’t have to travel far to compete in the CSBI. Austin calls College Station home where his prep career had him rated by both Perfect Game and Prep Baseball Report as a top-100 prospect from the state of Texas, including a top-15 left-handed pitcher. The freshman’s debut season was cut short, but not before Austin could get his feet wet for the ACC program Austin delivered four strikeouts over four innings in three appearances for the Demon Deacons. “I am humbled and excited to be a part of this tournament. I thought my season was completely over, I’m glad we get a little bit more.” added Teel.
“I was excited to hear about the signing of Austin” said Tournament Director Uri Geva. “Adding an elite program like Wake Forest is exciting- but when it’s also a local kid that gets the opportunity to take part in this event, it makes it that much more special."
