COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Brian Darby is the definition of an offensive weapon.
For the majority of his career at A&M Consolidated, the Oklahoma signee lined up in the backfield at running back. When he did, he was one of the best ball carriers in the Brazos Valley.
That's a skill he'll always have in his back pocket, even though the Oklahoma coaching staff sees him more as a receiver at the next level.
It's something we didn't see Darby do much during district play, but in the 7-on-7 summer circuit, Darby was unstoppable when lined up on the outside.
As the Brazos Valley kid gets ready for Power 5 football, Darby is focusing on putting on muscle without sacrificing speed.
"I feel like I'm pretty versatile as well. In high school, I lined up at every position besides offensive and defensive line," Darby said. "The coaches just want me to continue to maintain my speed. Don't get too big to where I lose my speed."
Darby also thinks his competitive nature is an asset in his tool belt. He says whenever he gets to Norman, he's ready to fight for a spot on the field.
