A&M Consolidated Baseball Holds "Senior Day Parade" for 14 Seniors

It's not a traditional senior night, but it's a night the 14 seniors in the program will never forget

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The A&M Consolidated baseball team hoped to end its season with a parade.

A championship parade. Not a parade to celebrate the 12 seniors and two senior managers on the squad. But with the UIL's recent decision to cancel the rest of the season due to the coronavirus outbreak, a senior night parade would have to do.

"I'm happy getting a chance to spend one more time with everyone of these guys," senior infielder Daniel Altman says. "I love them. I'm just happy I get to spend one more time with them."

A state title wasn't out of the question for this group either. The Tigers were 12-1 on the year and had climbed all the way up the Class 5A rankings to number seven.

"They knew they were good," head coach Ryan Lennerton says. "We knew a couple years ago this could be a good chance for them to play for a long time."

Consol won't get the chance to prove that on the field. It's something this senior class won't ever forget.

"I missed out on the last few months with my family," senior catcher Grant Griffin says. "Some guys I may never see again. These are supposed to be the greatest moments of our lives."

A&M Consolidated baseball is a family, a big one, and that's why hundreds of people came out to say thank you to these seniors one last time.

"I think a lot of people are going to cry," senior catcher David Pugh says. "I think I'm going to cry too."
