No, tickets for the Aggie-Longhorn football game are not selling for more than $100,000

Ticket prices for the renewed rivalry between the Longhorns and Aggies are listed higher than the 2024 Super Bowl game.

HOUSTON — It's been 13 years since Texas and Texas A&M have faced each other on the gridiron. The regular-season finale is on Nov. 30 at Kyle Field in College Station. Texas starts SEC play in 2024, paving a path for the rivalry to continue against the Aggies for seasons to come.

A viral post shows tickets are selling for thousands of dollars, including two tickets selling for more than $100,000 a piece on Ticketmaster.

THE QUESTION

Are the tickets for the Longhorn-Aggie football game really selling for more than $100,000?

THE SOURCES

Ticketmaster
StubHub
University of Texas
University of Texas A&M

THE ANSWER

This is false.

No, tickets for the Longhorn-Aggie football game are not selling for more than $100,000.

WHAT WE FOUND

The KHOU 11 Verify Team reached out to Ticketmaster who confirmed in an email response the two tickets listed for $104,000 have been removed. Ticketmaster said the tickets are resale, and the company does not set the price for them.

StubHub is also looking into a couple of tickets for the game that were priced at more than $80,000.

StubHub tells the KHOU 11 Verify Team, "StubHub is a marketplace in which sellers set prices and buyers have the option to choose their price point.  In that same section, you can see tickets start at $1,100 - tickets listed at unusually high or outrageous prices rarely ever sell - it’s all driven by supply and demand. This is at such a different price point that StubHub is actually looking into it as a courtesy to the seller, it’s entirely likely that they added an extra zero (or two) to their listing by accident. For reference, last year’s average price of tickets sold for Texas A&M football at the start of the season was around $169."

The game between the two college teams does not have an exact start time. According to Texas A&M, the start time will be between 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
