COLLEGE STATION, Texas--- The Texas Department of Transportation says Interstate 10 is now shut down at the Louisiana border due to high water.

TxDOT said on Wednesday, eastbound lanes of I-10 were closed early morning at the Texas-Louisiana state line.

Westbound traffic was halted by Louisiana officials on Tuesday when water from the swollen Sabine River went across those lanes on the Texas side.

"Due to continued flooding from excessive rainfall along the Texas-Louisiana state line, the Texas Department of Transportation has closed Interstate 10 near the state line," TxDOT stated Tuesday.

TxDOT is telling drivers leaving College Station and Bryan area to use Interstate 20 as an alternate route.
