Walker County reinstates county annex as election day polling location

The news brings the number of polling locations that voters can cast their ballots in the upcoming 2024 election to nine.

WALKER COUNTY, Texas — Walker County Officials have announced that following the passage of SB 924 in the 88th legislative session, the Walker County Annex has been re-established as an Election Day polling location.

When Senate Bill 924 was passed, it changed how counties using countywide polling locations calculate their number of poll places, and ultimately resulted in a significant increase for many Texas counties heading into the 2024 Presidential Primary Elections. Originally, the bill was intended to allow small counties not participating in countywide voting to combine precincts in an effort to reduce election expenses.

The news brings the number of polling locations that voters can cast their ballots in the upcoming 2024 election to nine.

The list of locations for voters to go to in order to cast their vote on election day in the county include:

  • Walker County Fairgrounds

  • University Heights Baptist Church Fellowship Hall
  • New Waverly First Baptist Church
  • Huntsville ISD Transportation Building
  • Cook Springs Baptist Church
