Texas A&M Code Maroon Alert System

COLLEGE STATION, Texas - When it comes to campus safety right here in Aggieland, Texas A&M has their own alert system called Code Maroon.

The alert is usually sent out through twitter and email, it is also tested once a month to make sure it works when its needed. Code Maroon is usually used for gas leaks, bad weather, accidents and more.

While Ohio State used, run, hide, fight in their tweet A&M says the students here wouldn't know what that would mean so a Code Maroon message would sound something like this.

"We would probably just try and tell people to seek shelter, shelter in place, or lock down, those are probably terms we would use over and above run hide fight," Vice President of Safety and Security, Chris Meyer said.

When determining what to send in a Code Maroon, there are four simple key points to cover. What has happened, where it happened, when it happened and what they want everyone to do.
