The Los Alamos National Laboratory will be sponsoring Aggies Invent, a 48-hour engineering design competition that challenges participating Texas A&M engineering students to put what they've learned to the test by coming up with practical solutions to issues and challenges facing the world today.
The event will be held at the Zachry Engineering Education Complex at Texas A&M from Oct. 13 to Oct. 15. During the event, 50 students will be put into teams to solve different problems surrounding on the theme of "Tech for Peace: UXO (Unexploded ordnances) and Safe practices."
The teams that will be at the event will be competing for nearly $10,000 provided by Texas A&M and top national security jobs, but staff from the Los Alamos National Laboratory will also be in search of prospective talents as well.
"Our staff that come out as judges and mentors are always impressed with the quality of the students and the amount that they can accomplish in the 48 hours," said Dr. Timothy J. Ulrich II, Director of University Research and Relations in an announcement from the Texas A&M University System. "It's a great opportunity for us to connect with the students and get them to think about Los Alamos as an exciting and interesting place to work."
