COLLEGE STATION, Texas - Many across the country paying their respects to former First Lady Barbara Bush including the George Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas.
“President Bush often says there is no definition of a successful life without service and by that definition her life is a tremendous success,” said Museum Director Warren Finch.
A life of love and a legacy of service is what visitors at the museum say Barbara Bush will leave behind, to many a symbol of grace and humility.
“She definitely showed dignity and grace and how you should live your life especially as the first lady of the united states and I think a lot of people resonate with her and how she lived her life,” said museum visitor Lisa Harris.
Children’s books and bundles of flowers lined the walk way to the Presidential Library, a commemorative sign of the impact the quick-witted advocate for family literacy made on so many.
“Her life and her legacy is in this museum. the photos the letter the memorabilia are in her scrapbooks. So she lives on here in the museum, here in her work and she lives on in the public,” said Finch
The Bush Presidential Library will be open extended hours throughout the week but will close Friday and Saturday to prepare for the burial service. That private service will take place on a family plot located behind the library.
