Navy jets to flyover Kyle Field before Texas A&M game

COLLEGE STATION, Texas -- The navy is taking advantage of this weekend's high-profile game.

Fans will be treated to a fly-over by three F/A-18 Super Hornets and two of the fighter jet pilots have their own rivalry.

Lieutenant Commander Christopher Edwards is a Texas A&M graduate and Squadron Commander Stan Jones graduated from University of Tennessee. Both are in the lead plane.

Commander Edwards says that while he bleeds maroon, he'll put aside the rivalry while in the sky.

"If we're to keep that rivalry hot during the entire flight it wouldn't go so well. So I think we'll just be naval professionals for about a good hour and make the flyover happen on time. Once we get on deck, I'm sure he'll be bleeding orange and I'll be bleeding maroon," said Commander Edwards.

The max speed for one the F/A-18 Super Hornet is nearly 1,190 miles per hour.

The pilots will fly about 2,000 above Kyle Field, just before the 2:30 kickoff.
