Somerville crash leaves one person dead

Somerville Police believe that there may have been another factor behind the crash that left one person dead and two others injured.

SOMERVILLE, Texas — A crash that took place on June 4 in the Somerville area has left one person dead and two others injured.

The crash took place in the 16900 block of State Highway 36.

28-year-old Nicolas Hinojosa of Taft, Texas was pronounced dead at the scene, while 31-year-old Jose Vega Daniel Rodriguez was transported to St. Joseph in Bryan. Additionally, JP4 Jason Urbanowsky and passenger 62-year-old Barry Tisdale of Waller were transported to St. Joseph in College Station. Tisdale has since been released from the hospital.

The Somerville Police Department said that their preliminary investigation determined that Rodriguez found that Rodriguez had been drinking sometime before the accident occurred.

“If you’re going to drink, have the discipline to call someone to come get you or use other public means. Don’t put you or your family at risk because I don’t think anyone of us wants to deal with the loss of a loved one over something so needless," said Chief Sullivan of Somerville PD.

Sullivan said his department is continuing to investigate the crash and potentially consider charges to bring against Rodriguez.
