FBI is asking for victims of clergy abuse in Texas to come forward

Clergy Sex Abuse Report

DALLAS — The FBI is asking for victims of clergy abuse to come forward, especially those who may have been persuaded into a sexual act by a member of the clergy in the north Texas region since the year 1985.

In a press release issued Friday, the agency said it has established a tip line and online resources for victims of clergy abuse to report what happened to them. The FBI said it will provide the victims with information, assistance, services and resources to help them.

The FBI said it is not focused on a specific religion or church but is working to identify victims and support those who have suffered abuse of any church or religious denomination while in the north Texas area.

Possible victims will be asked to complete a confidential online form and based on those responses, they may be contacted by the FBI for more information.

You can call the tipline at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit a tip at tips.fbi.gov. You can use this service if you are not a victim but have information that could help in this investigation.
