FORE! East Texas golf course lets people hit golf balls at Donald Trump, Kamala Harris

The Alpine Target Golf Center is introducing a one-of-a-kind golfing experience with massive targets of the presidential candidates Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

LONGVIEW, Texas — No matter who people are voting for, election season can get the best of anyone.

The Alpine Target Golf Center in Longview is introducing a one-of-a-kind golfing experience with massive targets of the presidential candidates, Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump on their range.

It's all a part of a creative solution to help ease some of the stress that comes with the election madness.

"It was a light-hearted look at a serious situation," Alpine Target Golf Center owner Mike Williams said.

Williams started this unique experience in 2016 featuring then-candidates Hillary Clinton and Trump.  The response was so well-received that he decided to bring it back for the 2024 election season.

"We've had fun with it and the people have had fun with it," Williams said.

Aside from a little humorous fun, Williams hopes this will encourage voters to go out and make an educated decision no matter their vote.

"Go vote. If you don't vote, you can't whine about it," Williams said. "I don't care who you vote for as long as you did it responsibly and with some knowledge as to who you voted for."

Golfers also seem to enjoy getting out and taking a few pegs at candidates to take some stress away from not only the elections but from the day-to-day grind.

"This is how I unwind and take some time outside of the office," Longview resident Don Mitchell said. "It remind us that everything's not quite as serious as we may make it. I'm glad it's an equal opportunity."

Mitchell agrees this time of the year can create some extra emotions for people and this is a fun way to let loose.

"It just takes some of the pressure off of this whole situation," Mitchell said. "I think everybody has a lot of strong feelings about this we could use a break in the tension."

Williams also hopes these fun targets will get more golfers out and working on their swing.

"You get to practice, you get to play, and you have to practice. What we try to do is try to make the practice a little more fun," Williams said.

Anyone who wants to stop by can expect to see the targets of each presidential candidate until the end of the election season.
