The city of College Station wants your feedback on three possible scenarios for redevelopment

The city of College Station is looking for public opinion on a few different designs for the Texas Avenue and University Drive redevelopment plan.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The city of College Station gave residents a chance to shape the city they call home, by providing feedback on a few different designs for the Texas Avenue and University Drive redevelopment plan.

"The feedback that we are looking for is for people to use their lived experience, living elsewhere in Texas, or even things that we've seen be successful here in College Station, and deliver those comments to use to kind of identify that preferred scenario," city senior planner, Matthew Ellis said.

Those that attended were able to review each scenario and give feedback on the things they liked and disliked. According to the city, the feedback will be used to create the final redevelopment plan by the end of the summer.

"Being able to look at what buildings might actually look like and engage specifically with how the street network will be laid out and kind of the future for the area in a very visual way, allows them to kind of see the vision rather than just thinking about the vision," Ellis said.

Scenario 1 doesn't include a lot of change to the current landscape, scenario 2 spotlights the amount of housing that is available throughout the project, while scenario 3 is a high-intensity urban form of the city's comprehensive plan.

"I think that in the three scenarios, there's been a good bit of interest in the transportation aspects here," Senior Planner at Asakusa Robinson, Andrew Knuppel said. "Not just where do we drive what's the traffic looking like, but also how do we get around on foot or by bike so pedestrians, cyclists, how do we walk and roll safely throughout the area?"
