College Station utilities lineman injured by high-voltage electric shock to be released from hospital

The lineman was given life-saving treatment from those on-site until emergency responders arrived and took him to a local hospital, city officials say.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — A College Station Utilities lineman was "critically injured" after being shocked while working on electrical equipment near a wastewater treatment plant in the city in the morning on Monday, June 24, according to a city official.

The lineman was injured near the Carter Creek Wastewater Treatment Plant. Co-workers nearby were able to use an on-site AED to give the lineman life-saving treatment until College Station firemen arrived. The injured lineman was given additional treatment and taken to a local hospital.

"The thoughts and prayers of CSU and City of College Station employees are with the lineman, his family, and co-workers," a spokesperson for the city said.

In an update on Monday, July 1, a city official said the injured lineman is "recovering well" in a hospital in Houston. His condition is also no longer life-threatening, and he is set to be released in the coming days.

The lineman and his family, who asked to remain anonymous, thanked everyone for their prayers.
