College Station ISD names Interim Superintendent

Dr. Clark Ealy resigned from his superintendent position, while the board named a interim superintendent at a special meeting Wednesday night.

COLLEGE STATION, Texas — Big changes are happening at College Station ISD. Dr. Clark Ealy resigned from his superintendent position, while the board named a interim superintendent at a special meeting Wednesday night.

Current deputy superintendent and chief financial officer Mike Martindale was named the interim superintendent. He will begin the role effective Feb. 3.

"I'm absolutely honored at the opportunity and appreciative of the board to place that confidence in me," said Martindale. "I look forward to assuming those roles on February third and look forward to working closely with Dr. Ealy for the next few weeks during this transition."

Martindale has 29 years of experience working in public education and has been with CSISD since 2007.

"Dr. Ealy has done a great job of providing a good leadership team," said Michael Schaefer, the CSISD board president. "We started looking through our leadership team and one that floated to the top was (Mike Martindale). He is the one deputy superintendent we had, I don't think there is a secret why he is deputy superintendent."

Ealy is leaving CSISD for a superintendent position at Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD. His last day with CSISD will be Feb. 2.

The CSISD board will continue discussion regarding the selection process to name a new superintendent.

Martindale named interim superintendent Chief Financial Officer Mike Martindale was named Interim Superintendent, effective February 3, announced the CSISD Board of Trustees at its special meeting on January 8. Martindale was given the interim label by the board following Dr. Clark Ealy being officially confirmed as the Superintendent of Schertz-Cibolo-Universal City ISD on January 7.
