Cameron Police officer shoots man, causes brief lockdown at Cameron Yoe High School, deputies say

Officers went to the scene and learned a man was shot in the hand.

CAMERON, Texas — Cameron Yoe High School is no longer under lockdown after a man was shot by a Cameron police officer, according to the Milam County Sheriff's Office (MCSO).

Milam County deputies were called to the 1500 block of Jackson Avenue on Wednesday before noon to help the Cameron Police Department in regards to a shooting.

Officers secured the area and later learned a man was shot in the hand. A Cameron police officer fired his weapon at the man, hitting him, MCSO said.

Cameron Yoe High School was having convocation at the time and was placed on a brief lockdown. At this time, there is no danger to the public.
