BRYAN, Texas — After the Brazos County court made the decision to eliminate the split-pay option for property taxes, it left many angry. The court is now looking revisit the decision in a future agenda.
The Brazos County Commissioners Court meeting met Tuesday, where Judge Duane Peters said the decision caused a lot of discussion. He said the court will be placing it on a future agenda to discuss a possible amendment.
Commissioner Nancy Berry said she has also received several phone calls and emails concerning the split pay option.
The county commissioners court voted last week to no longer have the split-tax and allow taxpayers to pay in two installments.
Those who opted to split their property tax, would not have to pay the 2019 half of their property bill. Instead, taxpayers will pay the second half of 2019 tax and their entire 2020 bill closer together.
