NAVASOTA, Texas—If you’re looking for a way to beat the heat, why not find a good book and a cool spot to enjoy it?
Now, there’s a new bookstore in Navasota where you can do just that.
Owner Suzie Linnenbank said she named the store Muddy Water because it reflects the rich history and heritage of the small, but growing town.
Linnenbank and her husband moved from the Houston area a few years ago and wanted to create a place that has a welcoming, small-town feel.
“I want a place where people can come and feel at home, and they can relax, read a book and they can chat with their friends,” said Linnenbank.
Linnenbank said she’s always wanted to open a bookstore.
“I also want to support the community and be a part of growing Navasota,” she said.
Muddy Water carries various genres, including a children’s area where kids can sit back and enjoy reading.
The store also carries used records, and some new merchandise like literary themed t-shirts.
Muddy Water is open Wednesday through Sunday, selling mostly used books at discounted prices.
Linnenbank said she also offers a trade-in program where customers can get store credit for trading in their books.
Muddy Water is located at 120 East Washington Avenue in downtown Navasota.
