4,372 Aggies rang in the Fall semester by claiming their Aggie rings today but only one A&M student received two rings.
A&M student Cody West shocked his longtime girlfriend Lauren Douglass with a surprise proposal. Lauren expected Cody to present her with her Aggie ring. Instead, Cody got down on one knee and flipped open her Aggie Ring box. Inside the box was a diamond engagement ring right next to her Aggie ring.
“I was definitely not expecting it in any way, shape or form,” Douglass said. “When I saw him getting down on one knee I was like no, that’s not what you do for an Aggie ring and then he opened the box and I saw this and he completely took me off guard.”
Douglass said she hates surprises but this surprise was an exception.
“I’m speechless,” Douglass said. “This was already going to be the best day of my year and now it’s just the best day of my life.”
