6 Fix | Belton florist accused of taking money from customers and not following through with orders

One alleged victim told 6 News there may be at least 40 others experiencing the same issue.

BELTON, Texas — A Belton florist is facing backlash after customers allege she's taken hundreds, or even thousands of dollars from them without finishing orders.

One alleged victim who spoke out is Krystle Morris. Morris hired this florist, whom 6 News cannot name at this time, to provide all of the flowers for her wedding back in October 2022.

"The day of the wedding came and she didn't show," Morris explained. "You think you're dealing with somebody reputable and it's only until your event comes that you realize that it was all a façade."

Morris paid the florist $1,000 for the service before her wedding. She says after over a month of hearing excuses from the florist and then threatening to sue, she was able to get most of her money back.

"I pray that no bride has to go through what I’ve gone through," Morris added. "She is very unprofessional and has shown no sympathy for the fact that a huge part of my wedding was missing because of her."

Morris took to social media to share what she had experienced. There are over 150 comments under her post of people sharing what troubles they endured when working with the florist.

To hear both sides of the story, 6 News reached out to the florist via phone call and text message. At the time of this publication, we have yet to hear anything back.

Another alleged victim, Amy Smith, says there are a lot of people who were not as lucky as Morris and have yet to get any refund from the florist.

"She would tell us maybe she made a mistake," Smith said. "She admitted to me that she's been lying for a while and it was all catching up to her. Apparently, she's told other people that as well."

Morris said the florist was recommended to her through a mutual friend. While arranging everything with the florist, Morris said there were small red flags she noticed, such as inconsistencies with the cost of her wedding flowers and typos on the paperwork.

Corpus Christi Better Business Bureau Executive Director Katie Galan told 6 News this is something others can look out for in the future.

"You want to make sure that they have a physical address as well as an actual working phone number that somebody's gonna answer," Galan shared.

Another common scheme Galan said people do is use an address that is not an actual address, but instead an abandoned building or a parking lot.

6 News reached out to the City of Belton to learn of any police reports filed against the florist from 2020 to 2023. Police say they have no police report filings against this person.

An anonymous former friend of the florist told 6 News this woman is known to con people in Belton, Dallas and College Station.

6 News will continue to try to contact the florist to hear her side of these accusations. We're also looking into whether criminal charges may be on the horizon.
