Amid growing concerns over COVID-19, many schools across Texas are extending spring breaks, and offering online courses in order to minimize the exposure of students to one another.
Here’s a list of schools in our area that have announced closures, cancellations, and delays. This list will be updated as more information comes.
Anderson-Shiro CISD
The district is closed through April 10. During this time, online and hard copies of lessons will be provided to all students
Brazos Christian School
Classes are canceled until Monday, March 23.
Brenham ISD
All campuses and school events canceled beyond April 3, 2020. "Rather than set a possible return date that is likely to continue to change, we will wait for the green light from health officials that it is safe to return. We will send you a communication one week prior to resuming normal operations to give you time to prepare and our custodial staff time to clean our buildings." A free, drive-thru lunch and bagged breakfast will be available for all Brenham ISD students at:
- Alton Elementary School

- 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Brenham High School
- 525 A.H. Ehrig Dr, Brenham, TX
- 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
- Goodwill Missionary Baptist Church
- 9180 Texas Highway 105, Brenham, TX
- 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Bryan ISD
All campuses and school events canceled until April 10. A no-cost “grab and go lunch” will be available for all Bryan ISD students from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 16-20 at Bryan High School, Long Intermediate, Rayburn Intermediate, Kemp-Carver Elementary School, and Navarro Elementary.
Caldwell ISD
All campuses and school events canceled until April 3. Beginning Wednesday, March 18th and every day (Monday - Friday) thereafter until school resumes, grab-and-go meals can be picked up at these times and locations:
- 12:00 p.m. - Cooks Point Community Center
- 12:30 p.m. - Chriesman Community Center
- 12:00 p.m. - Cade Lake Church
- 12:30 p.m. - Deanville Fire Dept
- 12:00 p.m. - Freeman Town School
- 12:30 p.m. - St. Mary's Church
Grab-and-go meals will be available for pick up at your convenience at these Caldwell ISD facilities:
- 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - CIS/CES School Cafeteria
- 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - CMS School Cafeteria
- 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. - CIS Bus Barn
College Station ISD
All campuses and school events canceled until April 10, 2020. Free meals to all students will be provided during the week from 11-1. Students can go to the following schools to receive their lunch: South Knoll, College Hills, Southwood Valley, River Bend, Oakwood, and The Lincoln Center.
Franklin ISD
Franklin ISD school officials said instructional packets for Kindergarten through 8th grade are available online or in paper form. These packets will be available at the elementary in the Pre-K car line from 11am to 1pm. You can also get them on the porch of the main entrance after 1pm.
On March 26, Franklin High School will start implementing lessons through Google Classroom. If you would like these assignments in paper form, you can pick them up at the front entrance to the high school. You don't have to worry about bringing the packet back at this time. The work submitted electronically will be kept by the teacher.
Harmony Science Academy-Bryan
Classes are canceled until April 3. Staff will return April 6 and students will return April 7. All school activities, field trips, athletics events, and competitions have also been canceled. Harmony Science Academy is providing free meals (breakfast and lunch) to all students below the age of 18. Families may visit our campus between 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. to receive free lunches for all children under the age of 18 who are present in the car. Children do not have to be enrolled as a Harmony student to receive these meals.
Huntsville ISD
All campuses will remain closed from March 16-20, 2020. All school activities and events will be canceled during this time.
Iola ISD
All campuses and school events are canceled March 16-20, 2020. They plan to resume classes on Monday, March 23.
Madisonville CISD
All classes and school activities will be canceled beginning Monday, March 16, 2020, with plans to resume classes Monday, March 30, 2020. Meal pickup will be located at the high school cafeteria northside drive-thru lane between the hours of 11 am and 1 pm on weekdays beginning Monday, March 16, through Friday, March 20.
Navasota ISD
All schools, facilities, all athletic games/ practices and extracurricular events are canceled beginning March 16-22. Beginning on Tuesday, March 17 Grab and Go breakfast and lunches will be made available at John C. Webb Elementary and High Point Elementary Cafeterias from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon each day, Tuesday through Friday.
Richards ISD
Spring break extended from March 16-20. All UIL and extra-curricular activities cancelled as well.
Rockdale ISD
Closed March 16th - 20th. School returns Monday, March 23rd.
Snook ISD
All campuses will be closed through April 3.
Somerville ISD
All campuses closed March 16th - March 20th.
B/CS Community Education Center
All morning and night classes are canceled through April 10.
Texas A&M University
Classes are canceled from March 16-20, and will move to online classes from March 23- April 28.
Blinn College
Blinn has postponed the re-opening of its student housing food services and physical library locations (these services are still available online) through Friday, April 3, with most courses to an online environment on Monday, March 23rd.
Sam Houston State University
Faculty and staff will return on Monday, March 16th, but students will return on Monday, March 23rd. Beginning March 23, SHSU will move courses to remote delivery for the remainder of the spring semester.
Prairie View A&M University
Students will return on Monday, March 23rd, with more and more classes being offered online.
TEEX
The Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service has canceled the 54th Annual Spanish Fire School, which was scheduled for July 5 - 10, 2020. Students will be offered full refunds on their tuition.
