NAVASOTA, Texas — On Monday evening, Navasota ISD confirmed Trey Allen as the new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach for Navasota High School.
On Thursday, Superintendent Dr. Stu Musick recommended Allen for the position off the heels of the resignation of former Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Casey Dacus, who announced he would step down from his role in early December.
“Through athletics, we’ll instill discipline, hard work, accountability, great academics and teamwork that’ll help our Rattlers become good parents, good spouses, and productive members of society,” Allen said. “Our number one goal is to build character in each of these kids and with that character comes hard work, loyalty, accountability, a focus on academics and I think that it is so important in breeding success.”
Allen has previously coached in Coldspring Oakhurst, Lewisville ISD, Diboll, Jasper, and most recently Kirbyville, where he has coached for the past three years. During his time at Kirbyville, Allen helped bring home their first District Championship since 2015. In 2023, the Wildcats had an impressive showing statistically, leading District 10-3A schools in offense and defense.
"When the Navasota Athletic Director/Head Football Coach position came open, I knew I had to seize the chance to apply for the position. I've long admired Navasota and its athletic program," Noted Allen when discussing his vision for the district. "The junior high is our future. They need guidance, support, and mentorship. I aim to be a consistent presence in their lives, fostering growth and development both on and off the field."
