BRYAN, Texas — The Harmony Science Academy in Bryan recently achieved had two major achievements for the students and the school: one related to their drone competition team and another for how they are preparing their students for the ever-evolving world.
According to a press release, the school received a designation of a PLTW (Project Lead the Way) Distinguished School for how they engage their elementary students through PLTW Launch, a STEM curriculum for young students.
"PLTW is a national nonprofit organization that serves millions of PreK-12 students and teachers in schools across the U.S., aiming to make every child in every grade STEM successful," the press release said.
To be eligible for the designation, HSA Bryan needed to have over 75% of the student body participating in the program while also offering at least one PLTW Launch module for each grade level during the 2022-2023 school year.
"We are honored to recognize Harmony Science Academy - Bryan for their commitment to providing students with exceptional educational experiences while ensuring equitable access to PLTW programs," said PLTW President and CEO Dr. David Dimmett. "We congratulate them on this achievement and celebrate their dedication to empowering students with the knowledge and skills to succeed, not only in STEM subjects, but also preparing them for future careers and life beyond the classroom."
Additionally, the school's drone competition team--the Flying Tigers--qualified for the National Drone Championships, held in Tennessee. The team hit the road on Wednesday looking to bring home first place at the competition.
