COLLEGE STATION, Texas — The College Station High School Theatre Troupe 8209 qualified for the International Thespian Festival after taking their talents to the Texas Thespians State Festival in November. The troupe was also named an All-Star troupe for the third year in a row.
“We are very proud of our students' hard work and dedication,” said Larry Robinson, College Station High School theatre teacher in a press release from the district. “We are excited to see what the future of Troupe 8209 has in store for us.”
The students that qualified for the International Thespian Festival include:
- Ellie Skow - Solo Musical
- Nick Geyvandova - Solo Musical
- Emma West - Solo Musical
- Ellie Heye - Monologue
- Carter Crisp - Short Film
- Savanna Tuttle - Hair and Makeup Design
- Matthew Richards and Carter Crisp - Duet Acting
The International Thespian Festival will be held at Indiana University Bloomington in June 2024.
“The Texas Thespians State Festival has students from all over the state competing in individual events,” said Stacy Erskine, College Station High School theatre director in a press release from the district. "Each year our students make many connections with other theatre students and most importantly potential colleges they may attend in the future. Texas Thespians is a wonderful opportunity for theatre students to learn from one another by attending workshops, watching other schools' shows and just growing as an artist from the knowledge they obtained at the festival.”
