HUNTSVILLE, Texas — Sam Houston State has named Dannie Moore as the next vice president for student affairs. He will assume his new role with the university on July 1.
Moore comes to Huntsville from Eastern Kentucky University, where he has served in the same role since 2020. During his time at the university, he oversaw different areas for over 14,000 students, including housing and residence life, student health services, Greek life, and more.
“I am incredibly honored and excited to join the Sam Houston State University team,” Moore said. “I look forward to collaborating with students, faculty and staff to enhance the student experience, foster a vibrant campus community and ensure all students have the tools and support needed to be successful.”
Prior to his time at Eastern Kentucky, he worked in different positions at Northern Kentucky University, the University of Texas at Arlington, Marquette University, and Eastern Illinois University. Moore also has experience teaching university courses since 2005.
“Dr. Moore’s success in student and community engagement, student success and his leadership at universities with diverse student populations match Sam Houston perfectly,” said Sam Houston State president Alisa White. “His experience aligns with our strategic priorities for student success and elevating the reputation and visibility of SHSU.”
