On Tuesday, the College Station ISD Board of Trustees approved four new members to serve in different administrative roles within the district.
Of the four new administrators, two had previously worked in College Station ISD, while the other two come from the Houston and Austin areas.
Penné Liefer, the new assistant superintendent of teaching and learning, comes to CSISD from Bastrop ISD near Austin, and has over two decades of education experience, 21 of which have been in administrative positions. She also previously worked as a principal in Humble ISD in the Houston area.
“I feel very privileged and honored to serve College Station ISD in this role,” said Liefer. “I am excited to work with Dr. Harkrider and the dedicated team of educators and administrators that serve the students in this great district.”
Christy Beaudry, CSISD's new executive director of special services, joins from Clear Creek ISD, located in the southeast Houston area. She also has over two decades of total experience in education, with 16 of those years being in administrative roles.
“I’m humbled to have the opportunity to collaborate with staff, students and the College Station community in this role,” said Beaudry. “I’m looking forward to working alongside the special services team to support students and build capacity with department and campus staff.”
Bridget Cooper, one of two promotions within the CSISD administration, was made the director of human resources after previously working as the assistant director of human resources. Cooper previously worked in Bryan ISD in multiple roles as a teacher and administrator.
“There are so many great things going on in CSISD, and I am excited to continue to be a part of supporting the district and its staff in this role,” Cooper said.
Finally, Melanie Young was named the new assistant principal at Spring Creek Elementary. Like Cooper, Young also has a background in teaching and administration, and also previously worked in Bryan ISD. She was named the 2020 Spring Creek Elementary Teacher of the Year, serves as a CSISD teacher mentor, and serves on the district's curriculum writing team.
Young currently works as a math interventionist at Southwood Valley Elementary.
“I feel blessed to have the opportunity to serve as assistant principal at Spring Creek and be back with my Cardinal family,” said Young. “Amazing things are happening on this campus and I can't wait to be a part of it as we learn and grow together. While I'm sad to leave Southwood Valley, I'm excited for the relationships I will get to build with new staff, students, and families.”
