GRIMES COUNTY, Texas — The Grimes County Sheriff's Office announced that they had captured two felons that were on the run for multiple months on Dec. 29.

That day, shortly before 3 p.m., a deputy spotted James Welvaert and Cassandra Wells in a white Kia Rio on County Road 172 south of Iola and east of Bryan-College Station. The two had been on the run from the law for nearly four months, according to authorities.

While both were wanted for parole violations, Welvaert was also wanted for fraud charges out of Gaines County, located in west Texas near the border of New Mexico.

After confirming they were staying at a shack on the backside of a home in the area around 8 p.m., officers successfully took the two into custody roughly 20 minutes later without incident.
