BRYAN, Texas — A man responsible for the murder of a 15-year-old in 2022 will now spend the next four decades in prison.
According to the Brazos County District Attorney's Office, on Oct. 29, 2022, Trevor Thompson Jr. shot Anthony Ayers, 15, after a fight at The Pearl Apartments in College Station. Ayers later died after running away from the scene of the shooting. Both were found to have guns on them at the time of the altercation.
As officers investigated the shooting, they found multiple pieces of evidence that proved Thompson was responsible for the murder, and quickly made an arrest.
Prior to a plea deal that Thompson took, the victim's family was consulted about the plea agreement and agreed with its terms. He guilty to his charges on Aug. 16, 2024.
"Anthony Ayers' life was taken from him too soon by a defendant who showed a complete disregard for human life," said Assistant District Attorneys Kara Comte and Abigail Goodman in a press release. "He will spend a significant amount of time in prison for his crime and we will continue to protect this community."
