MADISON COUNTY, Texas — The Madison County District Attorney's Office has revealed that a man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for being arrested in an illegal narcotics sting operation from last year.
On May 19, 2022, multiple police agencies, including the Madison County Sheriff's Office, Huntsville Police Department, and Walker County Sheriff's Office put an illegal narcotics sting operation in motion, which eventually resulted in the arrest of Travissance Smith, the man sentenced.
Prior to his arrest, Smith met up with a person in a parking lot and handed a person in a car methamphetamine, which was later seized by officials. The total weight of the drugs that were found was 3.3 grams.
Smith was later arrested on a Manufacture and Delivery of a Controlled Substance charge, and will serve his time in the Texas Department of Criminal Justice's custody.
"This prison sentence removes another drug dealer from our community," said District Attorney Courtney Cain in a release. "The Madison County District Attorney's Office will continue to work with law enforcement to send a clear message that this type of criminal behavior will not be tolerated here."
