Police: HIV-positive man sexually assaulted several women in Texas, Georgia

Investigators believe Carlton Tambaoga sexually assaulted women in the DFW area, Houston and Atlanta.

CARROLLTON, Texas — Investigators in North Texas believe they caught a rapist who could have more victims across the country.

The Carrollton Police Department arrested Carlton Tambaoga, 25, on Feb. 12.

A day before his arrest, police were called by a sexual assault survivor who was being treated at an area hospital. Tambaoga was initially charged with one count of sexual assault, but investigators quickly found out that there was at least one other victim who they believed was assaulted by Tambaoga so they added an additional charge.

Investigators said Tambaoga is HIV positive and was being held at the Denton County Jail.

They said they have gotten in contact with at least four other sexual assault survivors who Tambaoga attacked.

Police said they think he has additional victims in Houston and Atlanta who have not come forward.

They asked anyone who thinks Tambaoga could have attacked them to call and report it to local authorities. Also, anyone with information is asked to call 1-800-CALL-FBI. You can also submit a tip online at: tips.fbi.gov.
