PLANTERSVILLE, Grimes County — A man is in custody and facing a felony charge after shooting another individual in the back in Grimes County.
According to the sheriff's office, on Monday, Oct. 14 around 12:53 p.m., officers were notified of a man that had been shot in the back with a pellet gun off of Pinebrook Drive in Plantersville. Officials say the man that was shot was taken to get treated at a medical facility in Houston.
As the incident was being investigated, authorities identified and later took Derek Smith into custody for his alleged role in the shooting. He is being charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, a second-degree felony.
